Aims
To give participants a different perspective on disability, and support them in addressing their duties under SENDA - Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001 legislation
Learning Outcomes
- To share and reflect understandings of disability
- To give an overview of SENDA, Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001 and explore the impact of the Act on practice
- To explore the differences between integration and inclusion
- To identify discriminatory practices and develop creative solutions
- To explore ways of ensuring all children have choices and feel included
Target Audience
The course can be adapted or expanded and is useful to anybody working in education e.g. Headteachers, teachers, Teaching Assistants, Governors, playground and kitchen staff. Suitable for schools or early years education settings.
Number of Students
Flexible – can be delivered to small groups or whole school as inset training
Course Requirements
1 day (5 hour) course. The numbers of trainers required will depend on the number of learners.
