Course Requirements
A 15 hour course delivered over three days or as six 2.5 hour evening sessions (the latter can be offered if delivered by a local trainer). The Take 5 for Play certificate requires 10 hours of work practice in play settings to be completed within 3 months of the course start date. To support learners’ evaluation of the course and practice, it is recommended that there is a follow up 2 hour tutor led session to share experiences of the practice. Where this is not possible the host organisation will make arrangements with the tutor for the learner’s reflective practice sheets to be signed by the tutor before a certificate is issued. It is the responsibility of the host organisation to find suitable play settings for the 10 hour practice to be completed and to ensure that the participants have undertaken an appropriate CRB check.
Endorsement or NVQ Accreditation
A Level 2 course accredited by SkillsActive and Playwork Partnerships. This course acknowledges achievement of the ‘playwork induction standards’ as the regulatory training requirement for working as a level 2 worker with children in the holidays. OFSTED have agreed that courses that include the Induction Standards will be accepted as evidence that play scheme staff have been adequately briefed and recognized as working towards a level 2 qualification. It will be valid for a full year from the issue of the certificate after the initial period of work practice.
