Aims
To give participants a different perspective on disability, and support them in addressing their duties under SENDA - Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001 legislation

Learning Outcomes
To share and reflect understandings of disability
To give an overview of SENDA, Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001 and explore the impact of the Act on practice
To explore the differences between integration and inclusion
To identify discriminatory practices and develop creative solutions
To explore ways of ensuring all children have choices and feel included

Target Audience
The course can be adapted or expanded and is useful to anybody working in education e.g. Headteachers, teachers, Teaching Assistants, Governors, playground and kitchen staff. Suitable for schools or early years education settings.

Number of Students
Flexible – can be delivered to small groups or whole school as inset training

Course Requirements  
1 day (5 hour) course. The numbers of trainers required will depend on the number of learners.

AJA Course materials provided. Other recommended resources on display during the course.

Courses are delivered in a fun, participative way and can be adapted to engage different target audiences. Requirements for access, timing and training space will be specified in advance. The timing of courses can be flexible to meet the needs of learners.
